Prelim Task; Statement of intent

I intend to produce a front cover page of a fashion magazine aimed at 14 -18 year olds (mainly female). The language that would be used will be unique as it is going to be eye-catching for example the word "win!". The camera shots used on the front cover will be a medium shot or long medium shot so the target audience can see the clothing of the model. This will also suggest that the model is trying to communicate with the reader from her angle of gaze as this is quite close to her face. My model will wear a sophisticated dress which will make the model look professional and mature; this will vanish the negative stereotypes surrounding teens. Also, my model will have a little prop e.g. a flower since my target audience preferred this because young teenagers like the soft and subtle look in the summer. My main image will be shot in a studio which will make it look professional. The facial expression of my model will be in between serious, strong and proud which relates to my masthead giving the connotations of empowerment. This has given me confidence as I definitely know that my target audience will read my magazine as it's what my audience wants to see.

My front cover will have serif font that is going to stand out which will mainly have upper case letters, this show’s it for women/girls who are into real fashion shows in Paris and New York as my magazine will catch up with high end clothing. The name of the magazine will be Flames which gives the connotations of fire and therefore relates to power for women. I like how I made a word that has nothing to do with fashion sound so powerful - so I hope this catches their attention.
